The best kind of tea party šŸ«–ā šŸ§ø

Did you own a little tea set when you were a child? I guess it used to be very much a girls' thing so that leaves out at least 50% of everyone... although I would hope that today, boys will feel free to play with porcelain just as girls do.

My sister and I owned a little set, and I loved playing with it. By the time I was old enough I was not allowed to use boiling water, as my sister had already badly burnt her leg once. But oh, did I love to have a party with my bears and dolls...

Today I have a wonderful children's tea service made by Samuel Alcock in about 1826. It is cheerfully decorated with simple pink flowers, and I love the cute shapes. Pratalina the lanky cat who lives in my bedroom, and Little Cat, the tabby who lives in my living room, are having a wonderful party here.

Do you need a really original gift to a child - something they will remember forever? And, hopefully, pass on - my little tea service is waiting for my great-niece to be old enough for it.
