Today, I am putting the spotlight on the large amount of teaware. The largest tea service was sold already, as have several beautiful cups and saucers. But there are still plenty of smaller tea sets, milk jugs, teapots and cups and saucers available.
Afternoon tea became a big thing in the Rococo Revival era, which was the early Victorian era. In the early 19th Century, there were many ladies of means who loved visiting each other in the afternoon, and as in those days people only had two meals a day (breakfast and supper), the ladies could get a little peckish in the late afternoon. That's how the "afternoon tea" as we still know it today started: tea with an assortment of little sandwiches and cakes. No wonder that porcelain factories started churning out large tea services in the most fantastic designs.
Have a look at these beautiful pieces, and if you like them, make sure you are signed up and have the catalogue, as they are all up for sale!
