It's autumn here and the colours are wonderful! After weeks of rain and greyness, suddenly everything has turned yellow, orange and red and we are rewarded with the beauty of autumn. My garden is full of dahlias and you can buy chrysanthemums everywhere. So today I am showing you some Wedgwood chrysanthemums!
You can see beautiful orange chrysanthemum flowers in the design, as well as cobalt blue and red acanthus. It's all on a "fish roe" ground, very much like the French "Oeil de Perdrix" detail I wrote about recently. And to offset the beautiful red colour there are the freshly coloured green leaves, which have been shaded very nicely in a rather autumnal way. The central detail seems to draw in your eye - and if you look at it long enough you will feel a little dizzy 😵😵
Pearlware is a very light, beautiful earthenware and as it is much softer than porcelain it often is very crazed and chipped. But this service is in sublime condition, which is really rare - there's even hardly any crazing!
